the_unusuals_promo_004The Unusuals Amber Tamblyn, who plays NYPD Homicide Detective Casey Shraeger, adds police dramedy to her extensive acting resume.  Known for her straight arrow image and liberal views, the multi-talented Tamblyn has amassed a superstar biography at a young age.  Born in Santa Monica, California to actor Russ Tamblyn and singer Bonnie Murray, Amber’s godfathers include Dean Stockwell, Dennis Hopper and Neil Young.   After being discovered at a school play at age 10, Tamblyn originated the role of Emily Bowen-Quartermaine in 1995 on General Hospital.  Amber spent 6 years in that soap before launching her most popular TV role as Joan Girardi on CBS’ Joan of Arcadia.  The show and Tamblyn earned many accolades and led to her spot on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005.  Starring with America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Blake Lively, the movie’s success generated 2 sequels for Amber and company.  Tamblyn has also starred in the mega-hit horror films The Ring and The Grudge 2 this decade.
